Wow! So beautifully said. I'm so sorry you had to endure abuse, and I'm glad you have gotten free from it.

Yes, I agree with everything you said, and yes I agree that the kind of treatment that is being looked at is very similar to mandated sex offender treatment, but that kind of abuse is so much easier to prove and convict. I don't believe in editing articles after they've been published, but I understand now how I failed to communicate the difference in degree, and that the last people I meant to suggest should have empathy, it's the victims of the abuse. It's that I'd like to see funding going toward building awareness of the danger and severity of this condition, but also the complexity of it. I think the problem is on the rise and it's going to worsen as a result of exactly what you said...the visibility of our former president's condition normalized the abuse.
